The city was founded in 1893 at the future site of a Trans-Siberian Railway bridge crossing the great Siberian river of Ob. Novosibirsk Trans-Siberian railway station is the major transport nodal point in Siberia. The Administration of West-Siberian is situated also in Novosibirsk. Novosibirsk connects Siberia, the Far East, Central Asia and the European part of Russia.
The building of Novosibirsk railway station is one of the major ones in the
country and it is the architectural sight. According to the architectural plan the form of its building looks like antique locomotive.
Moreover Novosibirsk is river port. Novosibirsk river port is situated near the famous bridge across Ob. The intersection of water and surface transport ways is complementary factor of its growth.
In the city there are two airports: Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport (there are domestic and international air terminals) and North (Municipal) Airport.
Bus carriage of passengers was organized in July 1923, and in December 1957 the first trolleybuses were set in motion. In 1934 the street railway was found in Novosibirsk. In 2006 there are 4 trolleybus depots, 2 tramway depots, 4 municipal enterprises of passenger’s carriages. The length of the street railway is 165 km, and the length of the trolleybus way is 267 km. According to the state statistic 18 street traffics and 20 trolleybus traffics act in the city. It is interesting that after removal of street rails from Octiabrskiy Bridge in 1992 the left-bank and right-bank street ways are not connected.
Novosibirsk is the first city in Siberia, in which the subway was built (in December 1985). Nowadays two lines works in Novosibirsk subway. They consist of 12 stanchions. Some electric trains are equipped with televisions which translate information and interaction TV-programs for the passengers. The metrobridge across river Ob is famous with its length more then 2 km. It is wild word record.

In Novosibirsk there are about 145 architectural memorials, for example St. Alexander Nevsky's Cathedral, Ascension Cathedral; a lot of museums: The Art gallery, The Ethnographic museum, The museum of railway technologies, The museum of the Sun and so on.
Among the city’s sights there is the Botanical garden, and also unique Zoo in the collection of the last one there are about 10 thousands individual more then 500 species of animals, including 182 species noted down in the International Red book and 80 species noted down in The Red book of Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States.
